weVENTURE Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech's Bisk College of Business is celebrating National Small Business Week with an exciting announcement! We are compiling a directory of women-owned businesses in Brevard, Indian River and St. Lucie Counties, to help customers find and easily support local female entrepreneurs. While this directory will live as a free resource year-round on our website, we will also produce a holiday shopping guide to distribute in time for the 2020 holiday season.
According to the 2019 AMEX State of Women-Owned Business Report, the vast majority of female-owned businesses are solo-preneurs with no employees, many run right out of their homes. Further, in response to lower pay at their place of employment, more women than ever – particularly women of color – are starting up "side" businesses. And of course, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, unemployment numbers have soared, prompting more women than ever to find ways to monetize their hobbies and skills. As a result, we are seeing an exciting boom in local entrepreneurial ventures, which we love. That is what inspired us to compile this directory.
Supporting female entrepreneurship empowers women to achieve financial stability for themselves and their families, helping combat poverty and hunger right here in our local community. Shopping local this year isn’t just a tag line, it is literally a way to reinvest in the community. weVENTURE wants to help customers find your business.
Register by October 31st to be included in the published holiday shopping guide.
Being listed is FREE and open to any business with a female CEO, partner or founder.
Advertising in the weVENTURE Holiday Shopping Guide is also available. All proceeds will help cover the cost of publication and promotion to support local women entrepreneurs. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info!
